A Sunday brunch just might be my very favorite type of party to throw.
The mood is relaxed, the food is divine, and it is a great time to just sit and catch up with friends over a cup of coffee, mimosa, or bloody mary.
Our little gathering was slightly impromptu–invitations were emailed only a few days ahead of time–but that didn’t mean it couldn’t be pretty (and budget-friendly, of course.)
Between the 5 families, there were 13 kids ages 5 and under but surprisingly little chaos. The kids mostly played in the girls’ room (which was, of course, a disaster but then somehow ended up completely tidy. Dawn, if you didn’t think I noticed, I did. Thank you so much!) When they finally tired of throwing things at each other, they did some crafts (with fully washable ink and markers–I swear it all came right out in the wash.) and then finally settled down to watch a movie.
While I did need to purchase a few grocery items for the party, I used as much as I could from my stockpile, and the delicious fruit salad was contributed by one of the guests. The decorations were all made from items I already had on hand. (I have already gotten my money’s worth this year out of that $26 V-day stamp set I ordered from Craftin’ Crystal.) The tissue “puffs” were leftover from Princess’ Crafty Pool Party in August. For a tutorial on how to make them, click here.
Party Expenses: 2 loaves fresh sourdough bread-$6 2 jars fancy stuffed olives-$6 1 carton buttermilk-$2 1 carton orange juice-$2.50 2 bottles champagne-$12 2 cartons blueberries-$5 1 carton strawberries-$2.50 1 carton half & half-$2.50 2 green peppers-$2 1 bunch green onions-$0.50 Total spent: $41.00Affiliate links may be used in this post. Great job, looks so cute! I wish I would have gotten an invite!
Ok, so AZ is a little far to come, but it would have been fun. I love doing brunches too.

This is fabulous. I waited until today to do my shopping, since today was the first day of the sales. I received the flyers in the mail last night. I stayed up two hours and went over everthing being extremely careful. I am limiting myself to $20.00 a week for stockpiling items. So here is what I got at Kroger today:
8 – Cans Chef Boyardee – I didn’t have coupons, but it was $1.00 and special promotion of .30 more off. (This is way cheaper than I normally buy)+ for every 10 items you buy you get an additional $3.00 back at check out for all the items I purchased today. And for every four cans you got a 4 pack of Jello pudding. My daughter loves these for lunch and I wasn’t planning on buying any
6 – Grands Biscuits – .35 off for Kroger, .30 off two Q
8 – Totino’s pizzas 2 – .75 off two Q and one 1.25 off four Q – Kroger price .95
2 – Cheetos – 1.69 – I never buy these for my kids because they are too expensive
2- Puddings – Free (pull Q from Chef Boyardee) – needed these but really couldn’t afford to buy them this week for my daughter.
I had a savings of 48% plus I got $6.00 for next visit. I did get such a rush when I got all these items. I am definitely going to keep it up. You have inspired me to keep going.
I am still doing my regular shopping at Wal-Mart and used a few Q’s there today, but I spent way more that I know I should.
I just had to share I was so excited.
Thanks!
