You know you are old when a.) on your birthday you can’t actually remember how old you are, b.) no one else can either, and c.) your idea of a kickin’ good time is scoring some great deals at the grocery store.
I’m pretty sure both Winn-Dixie and Publix held their fabulous sales this week just in honor of my (33rd, for the record) birthday today because I gotta tell ya, my shopping trips rocked today!
It made me almost as happy as these flamingos on my lawn this morning:
Aren’t they funny? (Thanks again Rachel & Fred!)
Here is what I got:
At Winn-Dixie I spent $6.31 for $107.68 worth of groceries, a savings of 95%.
It was by far my best Winn-Dixie trip ever. I often feel like I end up overspending when I go to Winn-Dixie, but today everything worked out perfectly. The manager did have a little trouble getting the last B1G1 Right Guard coupon to scan, but he finally pushed it through and all was well.
Grocery Breakdown $5 off $30 purchase Winn-Dixie in-ad coupon 16 boxes Mueller’s Pasta BOGO @ – $1.67 (16) $1/1 Mueller’s Product (email coupon–sign up) Final price: +$0.17 each–moneymaker! 2 Kraft Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese, BOGO @ – $2.99 (2) $0.50/1 Kraft Homestyle Macaroni & Cheese Dinner printable or printable Final price: $0.99 each 2 State Fair Corn Dogs, BOGO @ – $3.99 (2) $1/1 State Fair Product printable Final price: $0.99 each 2 Armour Pre-Cooked Meatballs, 14oz, BOGO @ – $4.99 (2) $0.55/1 Armour Meatballs, exp. 3-31-11 (SS 01/30/11) or (SS 01/23/11) Final price: $1.94 each 10 Right Guard Total Defense 5 Deodorant, BOGO @ – $6.49 (5) FREE Right Guard Body Wash/Deodorant wyb Select Items (RP 3/13/11) (3) $1/1 RightGuard Body Wash (Peelie on 3 of the deodorants) Final price: FREE! 1 Clorox Bleach- $1.67 $0.25/1 Clorox Regular or Scented Bleach, exp. 4-24-11 (SS 03/13/11) $0.50/1 Clorox Bleach, exp. 3-31-11 (Winn Dixie, Spring Forward) Final price: $0.92 each 2 Hillshire Farm Deli Select Ultra Thin Meats, each – $3.33 $1/1 Hillshire Farm Lunchmeat printable or printable Final price: $2.33
At Publix I spent $10.64 for $136.82 worth of groceries, a savings of 92%.
My total actually came to $14.33 at the store, but when I got home and looked at my receipt I realized I was accidentally charged for 3 gallons of milk instead of 2, so I will stop by for a price adjustment later today. I was especially excited for the BOGO Sabra Hummus, but I only managed to print 2 coupons before it expired. And that is exactly why it is SO important to print those coupons early! Oh well, those are the breaks. I was also pretty psyched about the BOGO frozen Home Run Inn pizza–Husband’s all-time favorite–which is a brand new item at Publix. I couldn’t resist buying 4 of them, even without a coupon!

Altogether I spent $16.95 for $246.30 worth of groceries, an average savings of 94%.

Great Job! I can’t wait to be able to do some awesome shopping like this. I am really starting to enjoy saving so much and getting extra things I would not normally buy. This is awesome. You really got me started. Thanks so much!

It is definitely addicting!

First of all, Happy Birthday!
Secondly, way to go! I have just started couponing in the last few weeks and have already seen some fantastic results. I used to hate grocery shopping, but now I can’t hardly wait until you post the HT coupon match-ups each week so I can start getting my list together. It’s become, pretty much, like a challenge for me each week to see how much I can get for as little money as possible. Your grocery shopping accounts give me some good ideas on how to use coupons to maximize savings. Thanks so much!

Happy Birthday!!!! Your comment about not remembering your age on your birthday was funny and I can totally relate. I am 34 and find myself doing the same thing! Congrats on all of the great savings!!!! It is so much to save like that

Just curious has to how you got 16 coupons for the pasta. I know it usually only lets you print off two. Would love to be able to stock up If Icould.
Ruth March 31, 2011 at 8:49 pm
Whenever I find a PDF coupon, I always immediately “print” it as a PDF file to my computer rather than print it out on paper. That way I can find it easily whenever I need it, at least until it expires. I didn’t know that the site only allowed 2 prints. Most PDF coupons are unlimited!

Happy Birthday!! I feel the exact same way. It’s a g ood thing I remember the year I am born bc I swear every time someone asks me I have to do the math…and sadly I’m ..28. I think it’s bc we are so focused on our kids…we know their age right down to the weeks or months:) I get excited when someone offers to keep the kids for an hour or so and where do I go…grocery shopping! LOL
Enjoy your day, may it be filled with lots of savings and love!!!
Ruth April 1, 2011 at 8:13 pm
LOL, that’s my idea of a perfect day too…grocery shopping with no kids! Thanks Stephanie!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope that you didn’t have any of this horrible Florida weather ruin your day!
Great shopping trips. Publix’s ad this week was pretty boring for me, nothing really good that I had coupons for. Oh well there’s always next week.
Ruth April 1, 2011 at 8:14 pm
Isn’t it funny how a wonderful ad for one person can be just so-so for another? Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Good news! I just received my free Friday paper and there is a coupon for K-Cups in Smart Source. It is for $1.00 off. I wanted to let you know, since you are such a big coffee drinker like me. I am very excited.
Ruth April 1, 2011 at 8:14 pm
Yay! Thanks for letting me know!
