sunday shopping 8-21-11

It’s hard to believe it is Monday already–our weekend really flew by.  We hosted a very fancy Princess Tea Party on Saturday, which I promise to share with you very soon, and then on Sunday we headed to the Pirate Fest at Fisherman’s Village, a local tourist spot.  Our girls weren’t really into the pirates but they did love the live mermaids!

This week I decided to skip Staples but I did make a quick–as in left-my-kids-and-husband-waiting-in-the-car–stop at both CVS and Walgreens after church.  There wasn’t a lot I wanted at CVS besides milk & cheap olives, but the magic coupon machine surprised me with a $5 ECB Beauty Club reward (yay!), a $1/1 Orbit Gum coupon (reg. price $1.37), and a coupon for a FREE package of Always pantiliners.  It was all very unexpected, but it made for a fun trip.  As an old boyfriend once said, it’s better to be lucky than good!

Here is what I got:

The cashier could not get my $1/2 Mf coupons for the M&Ms to work! I was disappointed so I am going to a different WAGS today to try again…sigh.

Hi, I live in Chesterfield VA and as a result of Irene was without power from Sat afternoon to just a lil bit ago. I am so grateful I had a stockpile of everything from water, bread and eggs in the freezer, moist wipes, canned/dry goods incl powdered milk, batteries, toilet paper, etc. We also had a generator which we used to hook up our fridges/freezers. It was such a relief NOT to have to run out to the store with everyone else panicking looking for bread, ice, etc. Thank you so much for both your websites. I only started couponing back in March and thanks to all your help have an awesome stockpile built up which really saved us the last few days!!

Yes, hopefully we can ;-) . I love your sites. Its nice to find another couponer in my area. Its like you say, everyone thinks so badly of us. I do ok at Burnt Store Publix but the walmart here I usually always have a problem whether it be with a cashier or a customer behind me. I always try to be respectful though. Just recently I had the $1/1 cascade and got the trial size and the cashier only took the $.97 off. I explained to her that their coupon policy had changed and they allow overage and she argued with me about it that she’s been there for 30 years and this is what they are supposed to do. I didn’t have my copy of the coupon policy on me but I had her call the manager over not because I really cared about the $.03, but because I wanted her to learn for future. Well he told her to put the $1.00 off through and when he walked away she kept it the way it was before lol ugh… on my way out I talked to the manager agin letting him know what happened and that they may want to explain to their cashiers about the correct policy for the future. Needless to say I probably won’t go through her line again lol ;-)
