thursday shopping 9-8-11 {& weekly shopping linky}

Wow, you guys had a LOT to say last week about the new season of Extreme Couponing and last week’s video!  I loved reading all your comments and it makes me beyond happy to know that you all are committed to using coupons in a way that is ethical, respectful of others, and nice.

And, speaking of NICE, did y’all see the not one but TWO giveaways I’m doing this week?  :-) If you haven’t already, head on over to the LWSL Facebook page for your chance to win your very own Qubie Coupon Organization System just like the one I use (a $49.99) value!

Entering is super easy.  Just click on the “GiveAway” link found on the lefthand menu (clicking from here should take you right to that page), then enter your email address.  (Just so you know, the email address goes ONLY to me and is used ONLY to notify the winner.  I will never sell or share your information.)

That’s it, easy peasy!  After you enter, you have the option of sharing the giveaway with your friends.  Please do!  If a friend you refer happens to win the Qubie system, YOU will win too!

(If you really want a Qubie but don’t want to wait, you can go ahead and order one.  If you happen to win the giveaway, Qubie will refund your purchase price.  Use coupon code LWSL5OFF to save $5 on your order!)

I will pick & announce a winner on Saturday, September 10th!

This week’s other giveaway is a 3 month subscription to E-mealz.  You can read more about that one here!

And now, on to shopping….My shopping trip this morning was a bit of a letdown, to be perfectly honest.  I was strangely excited by the prospect of $0.67 juice boxes–I guess now that I am making school lunches I realize how quickly those items add up–but to my dismay the Minute Maid boxes were not included in the sale.  Boo hoo.

Even though I was only buying a few items, I wasn’t paying very close attention at checkout and didn’t realize that some of the potatoes I grabbed weren’t included in the BOGO sale.  Luckily I did check my receipt & was able to get it corrected before leaving the store!

Here is what I got:

I had a good trip at Kmart yesterday (9-7) and wanted to share. I spent $39.32 OOP.

    2 Kmart brand allergy medicine 20 ct. tablets – B1G1 50% off = regular $6.19 each, got 2 for $9.28
    1 travel size Connect 4 game = regular price $4.99; used $4 off Q, pd. $0.99
2 pkgs. Revlon emery boards = regular price $1.49 each; used $1/1 Revlon tools Q, pd. $0.49 each
1 Purina Meow Mix cat food 3 lb. – regular price $4.99, on sale for $3.99; used $1/1 Meow Mix Q, pd $2.99
2 Milkbone dog biscuits, size small – regular price $3.50 each, used $1/1 Milkbone Q, pd. $2.50 each; and there was a peelie on one of the boxes for a free box of Milkbone soft & chewy treats wyb 2 boxes of the dog biscuits, so I got a free box of the treats that are reg. price $3.50
3 Trident gum – regular price $1.19 each, used $2/3 Q, pd. $0.52 for each pack
1 Coffee mate creamer, the large size – on sale for $3.49; I didn’t have any Q’s for this but needed some anyway, lol!
1 Dentastix for dogs (cleans their teeth) – regular price $3.99; used $1/1 Q, pd. $2.99
    2 Scrubbing Bubbles bath wipes – 2/$5; used $1/2 Q = pd. $4 for 2
    1 Scrubbing Bubbles Active Scrub cream cleanser – $3.39 each; used $1/1 Q = pd. $2.39
    1 Scrubbing Bubbles Extend a clean daily shower cleaner – $3.50 each; used $1/1 Q = pd. $2.50
    1 Scrubbing Bubbles mega shower foamer – $3.50 each; used $1/1 Q = pd. 2.50
3 kit kat bars = 3 @ $0.69 each = $2.07 (I forgot to use the B1G2 free Kmart Q in this week’s circular, so I should have only paid $0.69 for the 3 bars; oh well! I will use that Q next time.)
When you spend $15 in Scrubbing Bubbles products, you get a $5 catalina. This made my Scrubbing Bubbles products $1.28 each after Q’s and the catalina.
Used $5.09 that was on my Kmart rewards card.
    Total = about $70.00 retail
    OOP w/tax = $39.32 + $5 catalina for next trip
That’s about 50% savings after the $5 cat; so I was happy with that.

Thank you for posting all the deals that you do. I have saved so much money because of it. I appreciate it very much.

    Carla :)

    Hey Ruth,

I noticed that you buy your milk at Publix a lot, Im in FL also and I try to buy mine at CVS. They sell the TG LEE gallons of milk for 3.39, and the TG LEE website offers a 1.00 off coupon.

Not sure if your CVS sells it or if its at the same price point as my stores, but figured id throw it out there :)

Thanks for the great tip Staci! My CVS carries McArthur dairy milk so the TG Lee coupon unfortunately doesn’t work for me. :-( I do try to buy milk at CVS when I can, but if we need it and I happen to be at Publix I will buy it there to avoid having to go to two stores. Sometimes the convenience is worth paying a little more. ;-)

    Ruth –
First, let me start by saying I too was SO excited about $.67 juice boxes that I actually went to Publix on my LUNCH BREAK because I was worried they would be wiped out. My. Lunch. Break.
I have never done that. I may need to join “CA” (“Couponers Anonymous”) :)

Anyway, when I got there I didn’t even think about it (other than the fact that I was surprised it was quite stocked). I grabbed 4 boxes of the sale Minute Maid 10 packs, and got my other non-refrigerated/frozen items (including 20 – !!- bags of Goldfish – my kids LOVE those) and used 4x the $1/1 coupon off Minute Maid and they didn’t question the coupons . Ack!! I just had them with my SWSL list and handed them over. Of course now I can’t even look at the Q to see what it said since I am a computer down and could only print 2 each from both my MacBook and my PC.

On the way home I stopped back by my local Publix and got my cold items. And then I needed one thing from Winn Dixie so that’s three grocery stores in one day.
Making my official WD list this eve.

Yeah… may need to join “CA” for sure. ;)

PS: One thing I did pick up with NO coupon (oh the SHAME!!) was Nasoya tofu for $2.99 . It was an impulse (hey, it was cheaper than a new pair of heels!) since we have wanted to try the baked tofu recipe you posted a few weeks back http://www.livingwellspendingless.com/2011/08/13/stockpile-meals-baked-tofu/
(yes I have my secret tofu weapons ready!!)
We’ll let you know how it goes!!
