staycation {spring break 2012}

We are halfway through Princess’ two-week spring break, and so far we’ve been having a blast.  The girls are at such a fun age! Last week we did lots of coloring and fuse beads, had a friend come play for a day, made a teepee town in the front yard, got ice cream and cupcakes, swam in the pool for the first time this year, and even took a spur-of-the-moment day trip to Busch Gardens.

Husband was unexpectedly able to take some time off this coming week, so we decided to take advantage of it and have a little last minute stay-at home vacation–a Staycation.  We are excited!

Have you ever taken a staycation before?  We have not.  Husband is not a big fan of taking time off without a specific purpose in mind, so our vacations usually mean going somewhere else.  This is the first time we’ve ever just purposely taken time off for the sole purpose of enjoying our own backyard.

To be perfectly honest, I think I am more excited for this vacation than many of the trips we’ve taken.  No stressful packing and un-packing or endless traveling or needing to eat out for every meal or crabby, overtired kids and a huge mount of laundry to contend with when we get home.  Not to mention the fact that staying home is a heck of a lot cheaper!

This coming week will hopefully be a good balance of taking care of some of the projects we never have time for and just having a lot of fun doing all those little things we never seem to have time for.

Are your kids on Spring Break this week?  Are you planning to stay home or go somewhere?  Have you ever taken a Staycation?  If so, what did you do?

P.S.  Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for a special announcement!  I’ve got something exciting in the works this month and I can’t wait to share it with y’all!

      Thanks Michelle! I am FAR from a professional photographer (heck, I’m barely an amateur photographer!), but I use a Nikon D3100. I attended a couple of photography sessions with MeRa Koh at Blissdom a few weeks ago that were super inspiring!

    Aw, how cute!! We do these every once in a while, but it’s usually just me and the kids. It’s funny how many things you can find within driving distance to discover. Spring Break here isn’t for another month, and part of it will be spent repainting one of the bedrooms… but I think we’re going to go visit some of the state parks we found last summer that we really liked.

    Happy days to you!

    My husband is the same Ruth, he always wants to go somewhere. Sometimes I would rather stay at home and tackle a few big projects too! We were closer to your neck of the woods for our spring break 2012 in Destin Fl. I got to shop at a Publix, but I too took a break and didn’t bring any coupons.

    Glad you are having fun with your girls this week.
