Earlier this month I posted my third annual LWSL reader survey. While this was my third go-round at posting this type of survey, I realized that I haven’t been all that good about sharing the results. I guess I just assumed it wouldn’t be all that interesting to y’all.
But, since I’ve had a few people ask about it, I thought this year I’d share a few of the insights I’ve picked up and what that will (hopefully) mean for this blog in the future.
So without further ado, here is what you had to say:
On what type of posts you prefer…
I was happy to know that the vast majority of you love seeing a variety of posts, whether they be DiY projects, party ideas, recipes, homeschool & family stuff, or personal reflections on life. All I can say to that is WHEW! I am so glad y’all have managed to embrace my randomness because I can’t see that changing anytime soon…..my interests are just far too varied!
There were also quite a few of you who said you still like the coupon posts the best, and wished that I would go back to writing more about saving money with or without coupons. You’ll be happy to know that in addition to the whole month of zero spending posts I have planned for October, I am also planning a couple of posts at the beginning of November that will coincide with a grocery saving project I am working on with WINK News.
On leaving comments…
I was absolutely shocked to find out that about 95% of you have never left a single comment. Don’t y’all know that comments are like blogger crack? Trust me, the money is really not that good….it’s all for the high, baby!
But I was also shocked to discover that the reason most of you don’t leave comments is because you don’t know how. So–because I’m nice like that–I came up with not one but TWO solutions! First, I thought I would give ya a quick little tutorial in the hopes of shattering the mystery:
- If you are on the home page, just click on the {# comments} link. That will open the post with the comments at the bottom. You can then scroll down to the comment section.
- Enter your name in the name box and your email address in the email box. I promise your email address is never shared or used for anything, and if there was some way I could turn off that requirement, I would. Feel free to use “noemail@noemail.com” if you prefer not to give out that information!
- Leave your comment in the comment box.
- Press the submit button.
But if that STILL seems too hard or two confusing, I also added an extra comment section that is linked to Facebook. As long as you are logged in you can just leave a comment using your Facebook ID without having to add any extra info.
See? Easy peasy! Now you’ve got no more excuses
On how many posts you would like to see per week….
This one was split right down the middle, with about half of you wanting 3-4 posts a week and the other half wanting 5 or more. Only a handful of you thought 1-2 a week was enough. Oh, the pressure!
All I can say about this is that I will see how it goes. I would love to continue posting more often, and through the month of October I will be posting every day, but ultimately my family will always have to come first.
On the things you like best about LWSL…
These responses were spread out across the board and y’all were so darn NICE to me! Seriously, thank you for that. Some of the most common responses included that you liked the savings tips, the fact that I am “real” & honest about my life, the photography, party & craft ideas, and the recipes.
On the things you like least about LWSL…
Most of you left this category blank but several of you mentioned that you don’t like the ads. Quite frankly, I don’t like them all that much either–they are definitely not very pretty–but they do help pay for the cost of maintaining this site, which means for now at least, they have to stay.
On your favorite blog posts….
This was my favorite one to read, and most of your favorites were my favorites too. Here are the top 10, in order of popularity:
- Amazing Grace {My Depression Story}
- The Beginner’s Guide to Coupons
- Why I Took All My Kids’ Toys Away {& Why They Won’t Get Them Back}
- Why I Make My Bed {10 Reasons I Keep My House Clean}
- Kid’s Artwork Display {DiY Gallery Wall}
- Sweet Shop Birthday Party
- One of Those Days…
- School of Edie {Thoughts on Redemption}
- Master Bedroom Makeover: The Final Reveal
- How to Make Homemade Pickles
Thank you again to everyone who participated, and if you somehow missed that post, you can still provide your (invaluable) input for a few more days–the survey will be live until September 30th. It may be taken anonymously, or you can leave your email address for the chance to win a $20 Starbucks gift card!
Affiliate links may be used in this post. Printing a coupon or ordering a product through this link may result in a commission, which helps pay for the cost of running this site and keeps the content free. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Haha! I chuckled when you said “comments are like blogger crack”! I’m a photographer (wanna-be it seems sometimes), but I’ve found that I love to blog! I’d love to find more time to do it, but my family and legal job have to come first right now. I think my sister is sometimes my only “reader”, but I still like to do it anyway.
Love your blog!
