I knew when I spotted this picture on Pinterest (from Vanessa of SeeVanessaCraft.com’s absolutely adorable goldfish-themed birthday party–seriously, check it out! I die.) that I would somehow have to include Goldfish Marshmallow Pops on our mermaid party menu. Goldfish….mermaids….things that swim….it fits, right?

As luck would have it, I already had everything I needed on hand, including the blue colored candy melts. (I think this might be the sign of a true craft hoarder, but I’ll just choose to believe I am just well-prepared. Don’t burst my bubble.)  The main difference was that I decided to make mine with coconut marshmallows so that they would be right-side up instead of upside down.

The kids absolutely loved them and they were much faster & easier to make than regular cake pops, which makes me think marshmallow pops might be our new party go-to treat. Thank you Vanessa, for this awesome idea!

According to the goldfish marshmallow pops tutorial, you only need these few ingredients!

Here is what you need:

blue candy melts
cake pop sticks
coconut marshmallows
goldfish
white decorating pearls
a block of foam or a cake pop stand

The first step of the goldfish marshmallow pops tutorial is to melt the candies.

Step 1:  Melt the candy melts in the microwave. Add vegetable oil if necessary to create a smooth, dippable (yes, that’s totally a word) consistency.

The next step of the goldfish marshmallow pops tutorial is to dip the stick in the melted candies and then into the marshmallows!

Step 2: Dip your stick in the candy, then stick into marshmallow. Repeat for all marshmallows, then refrigerate for 10 minutes until candy is hardened.

Dip the marshmallow into the melted candies is the next step of the goldfish marshmallow pops tutorial.

Step 3:  Reheat candy slightly if necessary. Dip a marshmallow almost all the way into candy mixture, leaving a small line of coconut exposed at the bottom.

The next step of the goldfish marshmallow pops tutorial is to add the star of the show: the goldfish!

Step 4:  While candy is wet, quickly press in a goldfish and two pearl “bubbles,” then set on the stand to dry. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until all marshmallows are complete.
