A few months ago my family attended a potluck gathering, and, while we were there, my husband stumbled upon a delicious apple dip made with caramel and cream cheese. Now, my husband is not normally one for desserts, but this was different. He couldn’t stop eating it. Or talking about it. He begged me to find out how to make it.

Sounds delish! I’ll definitely have to try it soon! A little variety from our usual fruit dip!

From your pictures, It looks like there are toffee bits mixed in with the cream cheese but the recipe doesn’t indicate this. Do you add them to the cream cheese as well as the top? And if so, how much do you add?

The recipe does indicate 2-3 Heath candy bars, crushed (or use Heath toffee chips) This is so GOOD!!!!

I agree, it doesn’t indicate whether or not to put it in the cream cheese. It says to put them on the top at the end, but in the picture it looks like the cream cheese mixture has some in there. Did you crush some up and actually put them in the cream cheese mixture, as well?

I’m sorry it should have read to add 1/2 cup of toffee chips to cream cheese mixture in step 1.

Love this! We will be making this for a wedding for the apple bar table. Just wondering how well it stores in the frig if pre made?

It stores really well in the fridge but I would suggest you top it with the extra caramel and toffee pieces right before you are ready to serve. 🙂

You could try mini M& M’s, mini chocolate chips, Crunch bars or Twix bars chopped up. Really any chocolate candy would work. 🙂

This looks so yummy! I’m having a hard time finding hersheys caramel sauce. All I can find is caramel syrup. Does it matter if it’s syrup or sauce? I really want to make this but can’t find the missing ingredient.

I made this for a World Series gathering. My friend “borrowed” the Fritos scoops from the chili dip to eat this with. We thought he was crazy until we tried it – EVERYONE LOVED IT! I’d recommend this dip – both with apples or with Fritos!

Crushed peanuts would be a good addition on top, or in place of the Heath bars.

If you read the recipe again, you will notice that it does say to add 1/2 c of the Heath Heath chips to the cream cheese.

What is your best suggestion for treating apple slices so that they don’t brown before guests have a chance to eat them?

You can place your apples slices in pineapple juice. 🙂

I crush vitamin Cin 1/4 water and sprinkle on apples to prevent browning.
