Handmade Fizzing Bath Bombs

Create these homemade bath bombs with your favorite essential oil! The perfect handmade gift for friends, neighbors, and teachers.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Drying Time 1 day
Servings 16 bath bombs

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup citric acid
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup sea salt or Epsom salt
  • 3 tsp olive oil
  • 5-6 drops essential oil
  • 2 tsp witch hazel
  • 1 empty spray bottle
  • silicone molds

  1. In large bowl, mix together baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and salt until well blended with no lumps.

  2. Mix in olive oil and essential oil until well blended.

  3. Spray the mixture with witch hazel until just moist enough to form into shapes that hold. Be careful not to add too much moisture or the mixture will begin to fizz.

  4. Press mixture into molds; let sit for 5-10 minutes, then carefully remove from molds onto parchment paper and let dry for 24 hours.

  5. Package in cellophane to give as gifts with a tag that states: to use, simply drop 1 large or 2 small bath bombs into bath.
