Handmade Honey Salt Scrub

This easy honey salt scrub is not only the perfect solution to dry, flaky skin, but costs far less than expensive store-bought scrubs!

I first made this simple honey salt scrub about three years ago during our first ever 31 Days of Living Well & Spending Zero challenge. I loved it so much that I ended up making a huge batch and giving it away to all my friends and family that year. They have been asking for more ever since!

But don’t let the simplicity fool you–this easy-to-make scrub packs a powerful punch! It is the perfect solution to dry, flaky skin and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and moisturized all day long. Better yet, it is way cheaper to make than all those expensive store-bought scrubs, and works just as well! You can use your favorite essential oil–I have tried it with bergamot, lavender, and ginger and they are all fabulous!

  • Followed the recipe to a T, a lot of excess liquid.

  • This is an amazing BODY scrub super easy to make and feels great. I was somewhat disturbed though as I read through the comments and saw that some people used this on their face....PLEASE do not use this scrub on your face, scrubs are WAY too harsh for anyone’s face and will eventually cause micro tears and sensitivity and redness. If anyone is looking for a good facial exfoliant there are tons of chemical exfoliants that are way better and safer.

  • why was there so much liquid leftover? there was like a 1/3 cup of the liquid

    • Not sure why you would have had that much liquid left over. Usually people don't have enough.

  • This recipie was a huge success i made it for me and my skin is amazingly soft thank you!

  • This looks amazing! Thanks your tips.

How often do you recommend using this on your face? Every day?

    • I would suggest you see how your skin does with this scrub. Depending on sensitivity you might want to do this scrub just a couple of days a week on your face, but it is also great for feet and hands.

  • This looks amazing!

How often do you recommend using this on your face? Every day?

  • Maybe this is terrible late but for all the people struggling with the honey and salt marriage problem: add about a tablespoon of castile soap to your mix and everything emulsifies nicely ;)

  • This scrub works amazingly well. But I find that the oil always separates to the top, which is kind of annoying (though not a deal-breaker). Any tips to keep this from happening? Thanks!

  • I make a similar scrub with coconut oil. I love it.
