Two weeks down and I am so, so, SO proud of all of you for making it through another week–congratulations!! This is once again our day to pat ourselves on our back (or kick ourselves in the you-know-where) while we reflect on what we’ve accomplished this week, as well as what we’ve learned.

I don’t know about y’all but I did a lot of cleaning & organizing this week, and I gotta say….it felt good. I tend to clean when I’m stressed, so this was a great week for me to focus on making my house spic and span. You see, this morning I will be sharing my Amazing Grace story out loud for the first time ever, and I am pretty much terrified. Public speaking is not my forte–I much prefer writing–so it was nice to have somewhere to channel all that nervous energy this week.

But I have to say that more than anything else, I have felt blessed this week by great friends & an amazing husband. Three different friends watched my kids last weekend so we could attend three different functions, and all of them did it for free, out of the goodness of their hearts. My friend Jenny surprised me out of the blue with a gift card for a free Starbucks latte, and my friend Melissa delivered the most amazing meal on Wednesday night….lasagna, garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, and WINE (which we have been out of for over a month.)  It was divine.

Between all that and all the friends who have told me they are praying for me this week or sent supportive emails & Facebook messages, I can’t help but feel supported and loved and so incredibly blessed. So thank you to all my friends and to my husband, who has been a huge support this week as well. Your kindness & generosity has been so very much appreciated.

Of course now it is your turn to reflect on the things you’ve learned this week, where you’ve struggled, where you’ve triumphed, and the blessings you’ve experienced.

What cleaning & organizing tasks were you able to accomplish this week? What blessings have you experienced this week? What has been the biggest struggle for you this week? Where were you tempted to ‘cheat’? What are your goals for next week?

  • I finally organized my hobby closet so I can use it! It's been on my list forever. I was blessed this week by my cousin who lives in town. She came over and helped me clean out our guest bedroom (which had become the throw it in there room) and organize the baby stuff we want to keep. And I finally finished the last bit of painting from the repair work from last years water damage. Whew! My husband also went through his closet! It has been an amazing week. Thank you so much for the inspiration to stop spending and using what we already have. It's a HUGE blessing.

  • Oh Ruth - I am so proud of you for being able to share your story out loud! I don't think I could do that myself in front of people. I too prefer writing or maybe talking to small groups so I am very proud of you for being so brave. Your story is such an inspiration!
As far as "organizing tasks" - we tackled our Master Bedroom this weekend (before and after pics on my blog - even I can't stop wandering in there and staring at our room). I can't believe it - it's DONE!!!!! I am on Cloud 9 right now. Again, you are such a motivator. Thank you!!!!

    • Thanks Claire! Your bedroom looks awesome!!! Way to go!!

  • My house has gotten SO much cleaner this week! It has been such an awakening as to how little it takes to keep my house clean if I just do a little at a time. The biggest blessing I experienced this week was when someone stopped by unexpectedly and I wasn't embarassed about the state of my house, nor did I have to apologize for it's state like I usually do. I have a tiny house (only 800 square feet) and always have a brood of little kids here so keeping it clean is a real challenge. This week of purging and organizing has given me some of my sanity back. (I know I will never get it ALL back. I do have little kids afterall:) ) I did have to cheat and take my mom out for her 50th birthday, but other than that, it has been a very successful week. I have gotten to be so proud of my husband for really sticking to this challenge and am hoping that by the end of the month we will have a very firm grasp on our finances and how fast we will be able to get out of credit card debt. So excited for what is to come:)

    • Yay Sam, I'm so glad to hear the challenge is making a difference for you! I'm happy to hear your husband is on board too--it would be impossible to try to do it alone!
