Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp poppyseeds
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/8 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp butter extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Glaze

  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp butter extract
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and poppyseeds together in bowl; set aside.

  2. In separate mixing bowl, whisk eggs, milk, oil, and extracts until eggs are well blended.

  3. Add dry ingredients to the egg mixture and blend well, scraping sides and bottoms of bowl, but do not over mix.

  4. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans; bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes.

  5. To make glaze, mix all glaze ingredients in small saucepan; heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let thicken for a few minutes, then brush over cooled loaves, making sure to get plenty of glaze in the "crack" of the bread.
