Sloppy Joe Pinwheels

Bored with the same old dinners? These delicious Sloppy Joe Pinwheels come together in less than 30 minutes for a meal your whole family will love!

We all have those days when the thought of preparing dinner makes us sigh. Those days when nothing sounds appetizing and all you want is a recipe that not only tastes amazing, but is super easy to make. Luckily these Sloppy Joe Pinwheels are here to save the day. The simple ingredient list will have you singing and the flavor of the finished product will have you jumping for joy.

Sloppy Joe Pinwheels are the perfect meal for your family to enjoy together. Crescent roll dough smothered in Sloppy Joe mix is my idea of a fun dinner that everyone will enjoy. If you are lucky, you may have enough leftovers to cover the next meal time dilemma!

Sloppy Joe Pinwheels

Here is what you need:

1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, venison, or buffalo)
1/2 cup ketchup
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 Crescent roll dough sheets
1 cup shredded cheese
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
non-stick cooking spray

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F.& Brown ground meat in a large pan on the stove top. Once cooked, remove from heat.

Step 2: Add ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to browned meat and combine. Set aside.

Step 3: Roll out crescent roll dough on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.

Step 4: Top the dough with half the sloppy joe mixture. Evenly spread 1/2 cup shredded cheese on the meat.

Step 5: Roll up the dough and meat mixture lengthwise. Cut the “log” of dough into 10 sections or “pinwheels”. Repeat Steps 3-5 for the remaining ingredients.

Step 6: Remove the wax paper from the baking sheet and throw away. Spray the baking sheet(s) with non-stick cooking spray. Place each pinwheel on the baking sheet(s) 2 inches apart.

Step 7: Bake for 22 minutes or until the dough of each pinwheel is golden brown. Allow each pinwheel to cool for 15 minutes and then enjoy!

Recipe Notes: You can also use crescent rolls and fill and roll each triangle crescent being sure to pinch ends. If you would like to cook pinwheels in a greased round baking pan adjust baking time for 30-35 minutes or until dough is golden brown.

  • They tasted good, but definitely did not look like the picture. The pinwheels didn’t stay together very very so some of them became flat in the oven.

  • my family gobbled these up! i used my own homemade biscuit mix and brushed melted butter over the tops when they finished cooking. i ll be making this at least once a week now! thanks!!!

  • Word to the wise let meat completely cool. Place the flattened out crescent rolls in freezer before attempting to roll this up. My 1st batch was a disaster. Hot meat breaking through the dough as I rolled it.

  • We love these soooo much! Great recipe! We have had them twice this week at my husband's request. :) Thank you very much for sharing!

  • These look so good and fun. I'm always looking for something quick and easy. Shared and pinned.

  • I will have to try this! I think my kids will love them!

    I've book-marked it for later!

  • I've been having a lot of those 'sigh' days lately :D
Your idea sounds amazing though! We already had dinner today, but I'm pinning this for later! Awesome recipe idea :)

    • I hear ya, Adriana! I know your family will love this recipe just as much as we do. Enjoy and take care!

  • Have you ever made this with Sloppy Joe sauce (the kind in the can)? Or is the combination you gave above about the same?
This looks fabulous for those days when I want a low-intensity dinner. (My favorite go-to is Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Casserole-since I can make a double batch for the freezer).
I loved Sloppy Joes as a kid...I might have to try these!

    • Hi Jennie! I have not tried Manwich, definitely a great idea though. If you do, please let me know how they turn out! I think this meat sauce is similar, but possibly a little "drier" than most traditional sloppy joe mixtures. :)
